Candidate Screening and Assessment Tools (2026)

Tools for screening, assessing and interviewing: skills and technical assessments, interview intelligence, screening products, reference checking and CV parsing.

After a conversation has started and before an offer. This is where a hiring process either becomes comparable across candidates or stays a set of impressions collected in different rooms.

A selection & evaluation shortlist is only useful if it is short. These are the tools in the category, ordered by fit with the category itself rather than by anything a vendor paid for.

CV-Transformer

Automated CV reformatting into an agency's own branded template, with optional anonymisation, PDF, Word and image input, and PDF, Word or weblink output. Named integrations with Greenhouse, JobAdder, MySolution, Salesforce and Seven20 plus API and webhooks, with Tigris, Carerix and Bullhorn stated by the vendor. Priced in credits from a 50-credit monthly minimum at EUR 97.50, on a volume curve. The vendor states explicitly that it does not rate or evaluate candidates, and states a 12-month minimum contract term that the public pricing pages do not mention.

Which Tool Should You Choose?

You probably need this category if

  • Several people interview the same candidate and their views need to mean the same thing
  • The CV is a poor filter for the work, so you would rather see what somebody can actually do
  • Volume is high enough that a structured first filter saves more time than it costs

You probably do not, if

  • You hire a handful of people a year, where the process cost outweighs the consistency it buys
  • You expect a score to make the decision — assessments narrow a field, they do not hire for you

What to compare on inside this category

  • Whether the library covers the roles you actually hire for, not the roles in the demo
  • What the vendor publishes about validity and adverse impact, and what it leaves unsaid
  • The unit you are charged in, and what a hiring spike does to it
  • What proctoring asks of candidates, in a market where they can walk away
