SHL alternatives
If SHL is not the right fit, these are the products worth putting next to it, and the situation each one answers. Nothing here is ranked, and nothing is scored.
Psychometric and skills assessment provider selling cognitive ability through Verify, personality through the OPQ, motivation through the MQ, plus situational judgement tests, coding and call-centre simulations, language evaluation, video interviews and 360 feedback. SHL Online is a self-service route positioned for small and medium organisations. No price, range or per-assessment cost is published on either route, and no free plan or trial is offered. What is being bought is a validated instrument with a long normative history; matching it to a profiled role stays with the buyer.

Products a buyer would genuinely put next to SHL, with the reason you would pick each one instead. They are not ranked against each other. Last checked August 2026.
Choose TestGorilla when you need to compare cost and start without a sales call, and a shorter validation history is an acceptable trade.
Choose HackerRank when the question is specifically whether an engineer can code, rather than a broad cognitive or personality picture.
Choose Codility for technical hiring where the assessment has to sit inside an engineering interview process.
The full reasoning, pricing evidence and open questions sit on the SHL page. See the evidence on SHL
