AI voice interviewing and screening
Primary sources checkedTalvin AIโ Claimed by vendor
Voice agent that runs structured first-round interviews, scores them against the role, and adds job tryouts and reference checks, billed against a monthly pool of interview minutes.
The short answer
- Best for
- Lean talent teams and agencies with repeatable first-round screening, who want spoken answers rather than a form or a recorded video
- Not ideal for
- Very high volume screening, where a minute-metered plan gets expensive fast, and senior hiring where a candidate expects a person
- Price
- USD 175, 325 or 750 per month for 50, 100 or 250 interview minutes
- Closest alternative
- PloyoChoose Ployo when you want every applicant assessed with a full evidence trail and are willing to price it in a scoping call instead of from a page

Why these assessments
- Recruitment fitStrong
- Screening interviews, role-specific tryouts and reference checks are all hiring-only activities. Nothing here was adapted from a customer-service voice product.
- Ease of useUnknown
- A trial is offered and the candidate experience is a phone conversation, but SourcrLab has not listened to Talvin conduct an interview and will not rate a voice agent from a description.
- ImplementationFair
- Writing the questions and connecting Ashby, Greenhouse or Workday is a day of work. Deciding what a score may and may not do to a candidate's progress is the part that needs other people in the room.
- Price transparencyStrong
- Three tiers with their prices, minute allowances, user counts and job limits published, plus a stated rule that minutes reset monthly. Very little in AI interviewing is this legible.
- Value for moneyUnknown
- The cost per interview is calculable, roughly USD 50 an hour of interviewing on the entry tier, but whether a voice agent's assessment is worth a recruiter's is not something we have tested.
- ScalabilityWeak
- 250 minutes on the top published tier is roughly seventeen fifteen-minute interviews a month. Real volume screening runs past that quickly, and unused minutes do not carry over to soften the peaks.

The SourcrLab bottom line
Talvin publishes what almost nobody else in AI interviewing publishes: the price, the allowance, the user count and the rule that unused capacity expires. That makes it one of the few products in this category you can evaluate honestly from the website. The product itself is voice-first, which is the right medium for a screening conversation, and the job tryouts add a task-based signal that a conversation alone cannot give. The constraint is the minute pool: it fits a steady modest flow well and a hiring surge badly, so the plan you need is set by your busiest month rather than your average one.
Best fit
A team doing a handful of the same first-round conversations every week, where hearing how somebody explains themselves matters more than reading it. Voice keeps more signal than a form and asks less of the candidate than recording video answers.
Think twice if
Check the minute arithmetic against your actual volume before anything else. Fifty minutes a month is three interviews, not fifty candidates, and minutes reset rather than roll over. A plan that looks affordable can be undersized by an order of magnitude.

Why choose Talvin AI?
Voice keeps the signal a form throws away
How somebody explains a gap, a failure or a technical choice is most of what a screening call is for, and it survives in speech far better than in a text box. Voice also asks much less of a candidate than recording video answers on camera.
The economics are published and checkable
USD 175 for 50 minutes, USD 325 for 100 and USD 750 for 250, with seat and active-job limits stated per tier. That works out at roughly USD 3 to 3.50 a minute, which you can put directly against what a recruiter's screening hour costs you.
Job tryouts add a signal a conversation cannot
Role-specific simulations ask a candidate to do a version of the work rather than describe it. Combining a spoken interview with a task-based sample is a better-evidenced approach to prediction than either on its own.
It writes back into the ATS you already run
Named integrations with Ashby, Greenhouse and Workday mean the transcript and the score can land on the candidate record rather than in a separate tool. Screening output that lives elsewhere is screening output nobody finds later.
Main trade-offs
Minutes reset, so unused capacity is lost
Unused interview minutes do not carry into the next cycle. Buying for the busy month means paying for idle capacity in the quiet ones, and buying for the average month means running out exactly when hiring picks up.
The allowance is smaller than it sounds
Fifty minutes is three or four real interviews, not fifty candidates. Before comparing tiers, multiply your expected candidates by your intended interview length and check which plan that actually lands in, including the seat and active-job limits.
An AI score is decision support, not a decision
Voice assessment can carry accent, language-fluency and speech-pattern effects that have nothing to do with capability. Validate performance across the languages and populations you actually hire from, and keep a written rule that a human reads the transcript before any rejection.
Some candidates will not talk to a machine
An AI voice interview as the first contact is a strong signal about how the employer sees the candidate. In competitive markets, measure completion rate as carefully as you measure score quality, because the people who decline are not a random sample.
Pricing and buying reality
USD 175, 325 or 750 per month for 50, 100 or 250 interview minutes
- Startup: USD 175 per month, 50 interview minutes, 1 user, 2 active jobs or assessments
- Growth: USD 325 per month, 100 interview minutes, up to 3 users
- Scaled: USD 750 per month, 250 interview minutes, up to 5 users
- Minutes measure the total duration of AI interviews and assessments, so a 15-minute screen consumes 15 minutes; unused minutes reset each billing cycle
- A free trial is offered; no free plan is advertised
What we do not know
- The overage rate once the monthly minute pool is exhausted
- Whether minutes can be topped up mid-cycle without changing tier
- Interview quality and scoring performance per language
- How deep the ATS write-back goes, field by field
- Recording and transcript retention, and whether candidate audio trains any model

How it fits your stack
Works with
- Ashby, Greenhouse and Workday
- Your existing application flow, as a screening step
Likely replaces
- The repetitive first-round recruiter screening call
- A separate reference-checking workflow
May overlap with
- AI screening layers such as Ployo
- One-way video interviewing such as Hireflix, Candid or ScreeningHive
- Assessment platforms, on the job-tryout side
Check before buying
- Your expected candidates multiplied by interview length, against each tier's minute pool
- The overage rate and whether minutes can be topped up mid-cycle
- Scoring performance in the languages and accents you hire across
- A written rule that a human reads the transcript before any rejection
- Candidate completion rate during the trial, not just score quality
Talvin AI vs alternatives
Products a buyer would genuinely put next to this one, with the reason you would pick each instead.
Choose Ployo when you want every applicant assessed with a full evidence trail, and can accept quote-only pricing scoped to applicant volume
Choose ScreeningHive when a much cheaper monthly interview allowance matters more than spoken answers and automated scoring
