One-way video interviewing
Primary sources checkedScreeningHiveโ Claimed by vendor
One-way video interviewing at the cheap end of the market: you set the questions once, candidates record answers in their own time, and the team reviews and scores the clips together.
The short answer
- Best for
- Small and mid-size teams screening repeatable roles who want structure and a shared review without an enterprise contract
- Not ideal for
- Senior or scarce roles where asking a candidate to talk to a webcam before anyone talks to them costs you the candidate
- Price
- Free trial plan, then USD 19, USD 49 or USD 99 per month by interview volume
- Closest alternative
- HireflixChoose Hireflix when you want a more established one-way interview specialist with deeper ATS integrations, and can pay more per month for it

Why these assessments
- Recruitment fitStrong
- It does one recruitment job and nothing else: the structured first-round interview, asked the same way for every candidate on a role.
- Ease of useUnknown
- The free tier makes it easy to answer this yourself, but SourcrLab has not run candidates through it and will not rate a candidate experience it has not seen.
- ImplementationStrong
- Write the questions, send a link, review the answers. There is no system of record to migrate and no configuration project between signing up and the first interview.
- Price transparencyStrong
- Every tier, its user count and its interview allowance are on the pricing page, so the cost per interview is arithmetic rather than a sales conversation.
- Value for moneyUnknown
- The price is obviously low. Whether recorded answers tell you anything a CV did not is the question, and that needs evidence from your own funnel rather than ours.
- ScalabilityFair
- Users become unlimited on the top tier, which is unusually generous, but interviews stay capped at 500 a month. High-volume campaigns hit the ceiling before the seat count does.

The SourcrLab bottom line
The clearest thing about ScreeningHive is the arithmetic: 50 interviews for USD 19, 150 for USD 49, 500 for USD 99, with a free tier of five to test the candidate experience before paying anything. That makes it easy to compare against the real cost of a recruiter's screening calls. What it does not do is answer whether a recorded answer is a better signal than a phone call, and that judgement, plus the consent and retention questions that come with storing candidate video, is the actual work of buying it.
Best fit
A team that runs the same first-round conversation dozens of times and wants every candidate asked the same questions, with hiring managers able to watch answers when it suits them rather than blocking a diary.
Think twice if
One-way video is a filter that candidates can feel. On scarce skills, senior roles or in markets where you are the one being assessed, an asynchronous recording as the first step reads as a company that does not want to spend time on you.

Everything on this page comes from the vendor's own pages, checked on the dates below. SourcrLab has not used this product in real recruitment work, so you will not find a first-hand opinion here.
Why choose ScreeningHive?
You can price it against a recruiter's hour
150 interviews for USD 49 a month works out below 40 cents each. Twenty screening calls of twenty minutes is most of a recruiter's day, and that comparison is the entire business case. Very few tools in recruitment let you make it this directly.
A free tier that tests the thing that actually fails
The free plan gives one user and five interviews, which is exactly enough to send the invitation to five real candidates and find out whether they complete it. Completion rate, not feature count, is what decides whether one-way video works for your roles.
Every candidate gets the same interview
Templates fix the questions per role, so the variation between a Monday morning call and a Friday afternoon one disappears. Structure is the part of asynchronous interviewing with the best evidence behind it, and it survives even if you dislike the video part.
Reviewers stop being a scheduling constraint
Bulk invitations go out at once and hiring managers watch and score when they have twenty minutes. On the top tier users are unlimited, so adding a second interviewer to a panel costs nothing, which is not true of most per-seat tools.
Main trade-offs
Candidates can refuse, and the good ones do
Asking someone to record answers before a human has spoken to them shifts effort onto the candidate. In a tight market that is the step where your strongest applicants drop out, and no amount of practice sessions or friendly copy fully removes it.
The interview cap is the real limit
500 interviews a month on the top published tier sounds like plenty until one seasonal campaign uses it in a fortnight. Ask what happens at the cap: a hard stop, an overage rate, or a conversation about Enterprise.
You are now storing candidate video
Recordings are personal data of an unusually sensitive kind, showing a face and a voice. Settle retention periods, who inside the company can watch, whether recordings are used to train anything, and what a candidate can ask to have deleted, before the first campaign.
Integration depth is unproven at this price
The reviewed material names API integrations rather than a list of named ATS connectors. At USD 19 a month that is not surprising, but it means someone may be moving statuses by hand. Confirm exactly what syncs to your ATS before you commit a campaign to it.
Pricing and buying reality
Free tier, then USD 19, USD 49 or USD 99 per month
- Free: USD 0, one user, five interviews
- Starter: USD 19 per month, five users, 50 interviews
- Team: USD 49 per month, ten users, 150 interviews
- Enterprise: USD 99 per month, unlimited users, 500 interviews
- Annual billing takes 20 percent off every paid plan, so Team is USD 39 per month instead of USD 49
- The meter is interviews per month, not seats, so cost tracks campaign volume rather than team size
What we do not know
- What happens when the monthly interview allowance runs out
- How long recordings are retained and who controls deletion
- Which ATS systems have a ready-made connector rather than an API

How it fits your stack
Works with
- An existing ATS, through its API
- Hiring managers who review outside recruitment tooling
Likely replaces
- The repetitive 20-minute first screening call
- Scheduling back-and-forth for a first-round conversation
May overlap with
- One-way interview tools such as Hireflix and Candid
- AI voice screening such as Talvin AI, which asks the same questions without video
- Video interview steps already inside an enterprise ATS
Check before buying
- Candidate completion rate on your own roles, using the free tier
- Behaviour and cost when the monthly interview cap is reached
- Recording retention, access rights and deletion on request
- What actually syncs back to your ATS, and what a human moves by hand
