AI hiring platform: reference checks, assessments and screening
ResearchedHiPeople
An AI hiring platform built around automated reference checking, with skills and behavioural assessments, resume/application screening and AI-run voice screening calls as separate product lines on the same platform.
The short answer
- Best for
- In-house TA teams that want reference checking as the core, with assessments, resume screening and AI screening calls as additional modules on the same platform
- Not ideal for
- Buyers who want a published price to compare before booking a demo. None of the four product lines has a pricing page
- Price
- Quote-only on every product line. A 'Start for free' self-serve tier is referenced, but its scope is not published
- Closest alternative
- CrosschqA more singularly focused reference-checking-plus-talent-intelligence competitor, if reference checks specifically are the deciding product

Why these assessments
- Recruitment fitStrong
- Built specifically around hiring decisions: resume screening, assessments and AI screening calls feed the funnel, and reference checking closes it out before an offer.
- Ease of useUnknown
- We have not used it, on any of the four product lines.
- ImplementationUnknown
- A 'Start for free' self-serve tier is referenced sitewide, but its scope, limits and whether a real rollout needs a paid plan from day one are not published anywhere we found.
- Price transparencyWeak
- There is no pricing page on the vendor site for any of the four product lines; the guessed URL returns a 404, and every page ends at a demo-booking form instead.
- Value for moneyUnknown
- Without a published price, this cannot be judged. Third-party aggregator figures exist but disagree with each other on currency and pricing model, so we did not use them.
- ScalabilityUnknown
- No seat, candidate-volume or module-based pricing model is published, so how the cost changes with team size or with using more than one product line cannot be modelled.

The SourcrLab bottom line
A four-product AI hiring platform, reference checks, assessments, resume screening and AI screening calls, with reference checking as the founding, most developed line. SOC 2 Type II certification is claimed with a named auditor, and GDPR and CCPA compliance are both stated. Integrations run wide across ATS and HRIS systems. What is missing entirely is a price: no product line publishes one, and third-party figures found elsewhere do not agree with each other closely enough to repeat here. Budget for a demo call before you can budget for the product.
Best fit
An in-house TA team that wants reference checking as the core of its late-stage process, with resume screening, skills and behavioural assessments, and AI-run voice screening calls available as additional modules on the same platform, and that is comfortable buying without a public price to compare first.
Think twice if
Anyone who wants to compare a published price before booking a demo. None of the four product lines has a pricing page, and the figures circulating on third-party aggregator sites disagree with each other, so none of them can be trusted as current.
SourcrLab assessment
Everything on this page comes from the vendor's own pages, checked on the dates below. SourcrLab has not used this product in real recruitment work, so you will not find a first-hand opinion here.
Why choose HiPeople?
Reference checking is the actual flagship, not a footnote
Over 50 survey templates, a custom survey builder, AI-assisted question generation and full workflow automation (invites, follow-ups, report generation) sit behind this one product line, with a claimed completion time under 24 hours.
SOC 2 Type II, with a named auditor
HiPeople's own blog names Sensiba LLP as the auditor and describes a clean opinion with no noted exceptions. That is a more specific, checkable claim than the bare 'SOC 2 compliant' badge most vendors in this catalogue show, though the underlying report itself sits behind the vendor's gated trust centre and was not independently reviewed by us.
One platform instead of three separate vendors
Resume screening, assessments, AI screening calls and reference checks are four categories that are often bought from four different vendors. A team that needs more than one of them gets one integration and one relationship instead of several.
A wide, specifically named integration list
Over 30 named ATS and HRIS systems are listed, including Greenhouse, Lever, Workday, Ashby, BambooHR, Personio and SAP SuccessFactors, which is broad enough that most buyers will find their own system on it.
Main trade-offs
No price appears anywhere on the vendor's own site
hipeople.io/pricing returns a 404, and every product page's only calls to action are 'Start for free' and 'Book a demo'. Figures on third-party aggregator sites (GetApp, TrustRadius) exist but disagree with each other on currency and pricing model โ per-seat, per-candidate and flat figures that do not reconcile โ so none of them is repeated here. Ask for a written quote before assuming a number.
Video is a feature inside other products, not its own product
Our own catalogue previously listed 'video analysis' as a headline feature. In fact video only appears as an optional addition to assessments and as the medium of the AI screening calls; there is no separate, standalone video-interview-analysis product the way HireVue or Spark Hire sell one. That line has been corrected.
The vendor's own pages disagree by an hour
Reference-check turnaround is stated as '25 hours' on the homepage and 'less than 24 hours' on the reference-check product page. A small inconsistency, and the kind worth noting because it is easy to check and the vendor has not.
Data retention and sub-processors are not published
For a product whose core job is collecting reference-giver statements about a candidate, we could not find a stated retention period or a named sub-processor list. GDPR and CCPA compliance are both claimed; the detail behind those claims sits in a trust centre we could not fully access.
Pricing and buying reality
Quote-only. No published price on any of the four product lines
- hipeople.io/pricing returns a 404; every product page (reference checks, assessments, resume screening, AI screening calls) ends at 'Start for free' or 'Book a demo' instead of a price
- Figures shown on third-party aggregator sites (GetApp, TrustRadius) are mutually inconsistent in currency and pricing model and are not used here
- A 'Start for free' self-serve tier is referenced across the site; its scope, candidate-volume limits and whether a credit card is required are not published
What we do not know
- Price of any of the four product lines
- Scope and limits of the 'Start for free' tier
- Data retention periods and named sub-processors
- ISO 27001 or other certifications beyond SOC 2 Type II

How it fits your stack
Works with
- Named ATS systems including Greenhouse, Lever, Workday, Ashby, Workable, SmartRecruiters, iCIMS, Bullhorn and Homerun
- Named HRIS systems including BambooHR, ADP, Personio, SAP SuccessFactors, UKG and Cornerstone
- Slack, and a partnership with Checkr referenced on the reference-check page
- Webhooks for custom integrations
Likely replaces
- Phone or email reference checks run by hand
May overlap with
- Crosschq, Certn and Effy AI, which compete on reference checking specifically
- Checkr, GoodHire and Sterling, which do compliance-heavy background checks rather than reference checks from people the candidate names themselves
- TestGorilla, HackerRank and SHL, which compete on skills assessments specifically
Check before buying
- A written quote for the specific product line or combination you need, since none is published
- The scope of the free tier before assuming it covers a real rollout
- Data retention periods and sub-processors for reference-check data specifically
HiPeople vs alternatives
Products a buyer would genuinely put next to this one, with the reason you would pick each instead.
Choose Crosschq if reference checking paired with talent-intelligence analytics is the deciding product, and you want a more singularly focused competitor.
Choose TestGorilla if skills assessments are the primary need rather than reference checks, and a published price matters before you start.
Choose Checkr if you need compliance-heavy background checks, criminal records and employment verification, rather than reference statements from people the candidate names.
