Why these assessments
Recruitment fitStrong
Sourcing, outreach sequencing and analytics on that outreach, sold either on top of your ATS or as one.
Ease of useUnknown
We have not used it, and we found no independent account of building and running outreach sequences in it.
ImplementationFair
You can keep the ATS you have or replace it, which lowers the barrier, but no free trial is published.
Price transparencyFair
The startup tier is published, discount and end date included; every plan above it is a quote.
Value for moneyUnknown
Only the discounted startup price is knowable, and that discount has an end date.
ScalabilityFair
It stretches from a layer on your ATS to a full replacement, but the price follows headcount rather than hiring.

The SourcrLab bottom line

The rare product that lets you decide later whether it replaces your ATS or sits on top of it. Pricing follows company headcount rather than recruiter seats, which suits a small team hiring a lot and punishes a large company hiring a little. Under 30 employees, the startup programme is the cheapest way into this class of tool.

Best fit

Talent teams whose pipeline is built by reaching out, and who want the sequencing and the reporting on that outreach in one place, whether or not they keep their ATS.

Think twice if

Recruitment agencies, and anyone who needs a price before a sales call unless you qualify for the startup programme.

SourcrLab assessment

Everything on this page comes from the vendor's own pages, checked on the dates below. SourcrLab has not used this product in real recruitment work, so you will not find a first-hand opinion here.

Why choose Gem?

You can keep your ATS, or not

Gem is sold both as a layer on an existing ATS and as an all-in-one with its own. That means the sourcing decision does not have to wait for a migration decision.

Outreach with numbers attached

Sequencing, scheduling and analytics belong to the same product, so reply rates and pipeline conversion are measured rather than estimated at the end of the quarter.

A real discount for small companies

The startup programme publishes USD 270 a month at 1 to 10 FTE, discounted to USD 130, with six months free under 30 employees. That is a serious platform at a price a five-person company can defend.

Main trade-offs

Pricing follows headcount, not hiring

The bill is set by your FTE count. A 300-person company that hires six people a year pays like a 300-person company, and a fast-growing one sees the price rise for reasons unrelated to recruiting.

Everything above the startup tier is a quote

Both the ATS-layer and the all-in-one product are custom-priced. The published number only applies to companies small enough to qualify for the programme.

The discount has an end date

Six months free, then 50 percent off, is a schedule. Model what year two costs at your expected headcount before treating the entry figure as the price.

No free trial is published

Evaluation runs through sales, even on the startup programme, so a pilot has to be asked for rather than started.

Pricing and buying reality

Startup programme from USD 130 per month, otherwise on quote

  • Startup programme, 1 to 10 FTE: USD 270 per month, discounted to USD 130. Yearly billing saves 10 percent
  • Under 30 employees: six months free, then 50 percent off. 30 to 100 employees: reduced rates from day one
  • Gem plus your ATS, and Gem All-in-One: custom, priced on FTE count
  • No free trial is published

What we do not know

  • What the standard plans cost at any headcount
  • The price once the startup discount schedule ends
  • Whether the ATS-layer and all-in-one differ in price at the same headcount

How it fits your stack

Works with

  • Your existing ATS, which is one of the two ways it is sold

Likely replaces

  • A separate sourcing CRM and sequencing tool
  • Your ATS, if you take the all-in-one

May overlap with

  • hireEZ and SeekOut on sourcing; Ashby and Greenhouse on the ATS

Check before buying

  • The quote at next year's headcount, not this year's
  • Whether you qualify for the startup programme, and for how long

Gem vs alternatives

Products a buyer would genuinely put next to this one, with the reason you would pick each instead.

Consider hireEZ if you only want the sourcing layer and are consolidating several point tools.

Consider Lever if candidate nurture inside the ATS matters more than outbound sequencing on top of it.
